We've all been taught to take business (and life in general) far too seriously. Right vs wrong, pass vs fail. The stakes are high, the levels of joy are low, and the payoff... not worth it. At least IMO.
And what I've noticed is that the more serious we get, the harder it all becomes.
Where early on in my professional life I'd throw myself in the deep end and give anything a go - often succeeding without too much effort - as the years wore on and I started to "try" harder, it took far more work to get any results.
I also found myself spending more and more time in planning (not to mention "consuming") mode and less in creation mode. In other words, despite the increased effort to get it right, I was doing less overall... which unsurprisingly led to decreasing results.
But I noticed this with my clients too. They came to me putting so much pressure on themselves to get things "right", under the impression that hitting publish on a post was a life or death situation. It was no wonder they'd spend months over-thinking their strategy before finally hiring me to help.
And yet despite the fact that everyone who works with me ultimately walks away with a "strategy", what proved far more valuable was the new perspective they had installed: to start approaching everything as an experiment.
See, what's easy to forget is that everyone's actually making it up as they go along. The game itself was made up. We're all running around playing "real life" Monopoly. And what's the real point of playing any game? (Yeah yeah, I mean aside from winning!) It's to have some damn fun.
If you're reading this right now, you might be feeling the same way I've been for a while now. That you're really bloody tired of how heavy it all feels. Tired of living with that pressure on your shoulders. Tired of feeling like you're never doing enough, achieving enough, being enough.
More than a little meta, The Magnetism Experiment is a dual permission slip (one for me, one for you!) for us to throw that old mentality out the window and take control of the narrative.
To remember that life is actually about the journey, not the destination (after all, the only true destination is death 😅). And make the most of our time on this planet by doing away with the whole "must get it RIGHT" schtick and instead, experimenting our way to a version of our lives and businesses/careers that FEELS right for us. Which is going to be completely unique to you and therefore ONLY able to be discovered through a process of trial and error.
Oh, and in case we've never met, hi! I'm Kat.
From personal trainer to professional theatre performer, real estate agent to copywriter and personal branding coach to, well... professional experimenter? I've spent the last 8 years of my life being a personal (and professional) development crash test dummy and the last 10 of them building my own business/personal brand.
But prior to that? Let's just say I lived life a little less consciously.
Rewind 15 years or so and you'd find me living a pretty damn "successful on paper" life. That is, until my casual quarter life crisis (that included the big 3: divorce, bankruptcy & life-threatening illness). Turns out having your life blow up in your face can actually be a beautiful gift.
After feeling very sorry for myself initially and thinking about all the reasons life had "done this" to me -- all the people who'd disappointed me, all the bad luck I'd been dealt -- it hit me: I wasn't the victim here. It was MY decisions that led me to this very moment in time.
Now that wasn't easy to digest at first. In fact, it took a solid few years for it to fully sink in. But when it did, everything changed. I took full responsibility for my life and I got to work.
The goal? Get rid of the beliefs, the habits, the patterns, the whatevers, that had me running on - a highly destructive - autopilot until that point.
Thus began the 8 year process of unravelling my belief systems, deconditioning, re-parenting, shadow work, neural reprogramming, meditation, journalling, Human Design, the Gene Keys, energy healing, emotional alchemy, parts work, breath work, somatic psychology... basically anything my intuition led me to.
And while it obviously didn't happen overnight, the transformation has been undeniable. Not just emotionally (though my inner circle can attest to the fact that I've gone from anxious and unpredictable to calm and steady) but also physically and mentally.
As this new version of my revealed itself, so did a new calling. To branch out from just helping people build magnetic brands and actually share all I know about living a magnetic life. And The Magnetism Experiment is one of the first steps - and yes, experiments! - towards allowing me to do that.
I hope you enjoy what you uncover here. And if it resonates with you, that you'll decide to stick around for a while and go deeper. I have a LOT I'm excited to shared.
Thanks for reading!
