A love letter to the entrepreneur who's scared to let go of what they've created.
Beautiful creative soul,
You've come so much further than you know. You've accomplished so much, have overcome so much. You're a very different person today than when you started your business. You should be so proud of yourself.
And it's because of how far you've come that you shouldn't be surprised to notice that you no longer operate the way you used to. Perhaps no longer fit the mould you created for yourself in your business. Feel a little squished, stuck... maybe even trapped.
Don't be scared and whatever you do please don't beat yourself up for feeling this way. It's not a failing. You haven't done anything wrong. In fact, you've done so much right. You've grown so much, you've outgrown your creation. At least, this iteration of it.
I know the world has led you to believe that only beginnings should be celebrated whereas endings should be mourned. But they've completely missed the point. Endings are beginnings and beginnings must be endings. Because it's from the old we create the new.
Nothing is ever created out of thin air. Every thought you've ever had, every step you've ever taken, every creation you've ever manifested all led you here, to the next breath, the next thought, the next creation.
We can therefore see the death of the old as something magnificent. Sacred. Worthy of celebration and so much gratitude.
In the words of Octavia Butler, "God is change".
As humans we were literally designed to evolve. Creation requires movement. We require movement. If we stop moving, we stop growing, and if we stop growing, we stop living.
So what does this have to do with your business? Well, this beautiful creation of yours served an important purpose. It supported you as you grew. And now, it's ready to be reknown so it can support you through your next phase of growth.
You aren't betraying it by craving a change. It wants to evolve with you. It can't wait to see where your creativity will lead it next.
So stop denying it. Stop avoiding it. Stop trying to pretend that change isn't calling you. The longer you ignore it, the louder it'll get.
Welcome it. Smile as you greet it. Take a breath. And ask it, "Where to from here?"
With love,
Your future self
